As a Harbour Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the Harbour Master in the safe and efficient operation of the harbours and maritime facilities within Anglesey, North Wales. You will assist with vessel traffic management, safety inspections, and environmental protection efforts.
Key Responsibilities:

Vessel Traffic Management:
- Assist the Harbour Master in managing vessel traffic within the harbour, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of all vessels.
- Provide assistance and guidance to vessels during arrivals, departures, and berthing operations.
- Monitor vessel movements and report any incidents or irregularities to the Harbour Master.

Safety and Security:
- Conduct regular safety inspections of harbour facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Assist in enforcing maritime safety regulations and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist with security measures to safeguard the harbour and its users against potential threats.

Environmental Protection:
- Support environmental management practices to minimize the impact of harbour operations on the surrounding environment.
- Assist in responding to environmental incidents and participate in clean-up efforts as necessary.
- Promote environmentally sustainable practices among harbour users.

Harbour Operations:
- Assist with day-to-day harbour operations, including maintenance of facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Assist in the collection of harbour fees and maintain accurate records of payments.
- Liaise with port users, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in a maritime-related role would be advantageous.
- A basic understanding of maritime regulations and safety practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- A willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, to accommodate operational requirements.
